Mar. 17th, 2012 04:36 am[ the trip between planets always feels a bit restless, and edge in particular has seemed, well... on edge lately. their upcoming mission is a big one, and it's critical that it goes smoothly. faize has been his first officer for quite some time now, and he has no doubt in his mind that it will, with edge leading and captaining. edge isn't exactly nervous, but he hasn't exactly been allowing himself the luxury of relaxation, either.
the majority of the crew seem to have retreated back to their sleeping quarters to turn in for the night, but faize himself is very much awake, and edge hasn't returned to their room yet. he's found that it's difficult to sleep without a warm, solid body next to him, and this is why he tiptoes into the cockpit just before midnight, peering curiously to take in the sight of edge in his rightful place at the front of the ship, sitting up and alert in the captain's seat, bright green eyes focused on the stars through the glass.
it's rare to see edge like this, these days - being in command of a much larger crew has taken its toll, after all, no matter how happy it makes him - and faize almost doesn't want to disturb him. with so many duties, it's rare that his captain finds the time for a moment alone. but they've been together for a long time now and he's never once turned down faize's company, and so it doesn't take much hesitation for faize to make his presence known, stepping up behind him and gently tapping him on the shoulder with a quiet hum. ]
Edge. Are you not tired?
[ when faize first left lemuris to reclaim his place by edge's side, it had taken quite a bit of reassurance from edge to convince him that the formal captain title isn't needed when speaking to him. not when it's faize. ]
